1. What is the Adventure Diver Course?
Instead of completing the 5 dives required for the full Advanced course, the Adventure Diver course requires you to complete just 3 Adventure Dives of your choice. Upon successful completion of these 3 dives, you earn an official, lifetime international certification card.
2. Prerequisites & Duration
-
Minimum Age: 10 years old (Divers aged 10–14 earn the Junior Adventure Diver certification).
-
Prerequisite Certification: Must hold a PADI Open Water Diver license (or an equivalent qualifying certification from another organization).
-
Duration: Can be completed in just 1 single day (since it consists of only 3 dives).
3. Choosing Your 3 Adventure Dives
You get to sit down with your instructor and choose 3 diving specialties that interest you the most. Some of the most popular options include:
-
Peak Performance Buoyancy: Perfecting your hover, saving air, and moving effortlessly.
-
Deep Diving: Going down to 30 meters / 100 feet (Note: Only available for divers aged 12 and older).
-
Night Diving: Experiencing the reef after dark using dive lights.
-
Underwater Navigation: Mastering the compass and natural navigation.
-
Drift Diving: Learning how to safely glide along with ocean currents.
-
Digital Underwater Imaging: Learning the basics of taking great photos and videos underwater.
4. The Biggest Advantage: Easy Upgrade to “Advanced”
The Adventure Diver course is essentially 60% of the Advanced Open Water course. All your credits are saved in the PADI ecosystem.
If you decide later on that you want to get your full Advanced Open Water Diver license, you do not have to restart. You simply need to complete 2 more specific Adventure Dives (making sure you have completed both the Deep and Navigation dives in your total mix) at any PADI dive center worldwide, and you will automatically upgrade to the Advanced level!
